What is Qi Gong?
Gentle Movement and Stretching
Qi Gong consists of slow, relaxed movements with a focus on the breath. It is connected to the seasons, and to the natural world. After a session you will feel more flexible, energised and balanced.
“When filled with qi, the body is like a tree branch filled with sap; it can bend and flow with the breeze, but it does not snap or lose its connection with the root. On the other hand, a stiff, dead branch is easily broken. Thus the adage of Lao Zi, "Concentrate the qi and you will achieve the utmost suppleness... Suppleness is the essence of life.” ― Kenneth S. Cohen
Suitable for Everyone
Anyone can practice Qi Gong, the atmosphere in our classes is friendly and welcoming. Qi Gong will benefit you, whatever your fitness level.
"Physically, slow gentle Qi Gong movements warm tendons, ligaments, and muscles; tonify vital organs and connective tissue; and promote circulation of body fluids (blood, synovial, lymph). Many studies have shown Qigong to be an effective practice to address health challenges ranging from high blood pressure and chronic illness, to emotional frustration, mental stress, and spiritual crisis. The gentle, rhythmic movements of Qigong reduce stress, build stamina, increase vitality, and enhance the immune system. It has also been found to improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, and digestive functions."
